There are four levels of competency which must be met in order to instruct. They are I.Q.C Level 1, I.Q.C Level 2, I.Q.C Level 3, and I.Q.C Advanced Level 4. As the student progresses, they gain the skills, knowledge and confidence required to teach the core fundamentals of Shotokan Karate in order to develop a student for their grading.
The competencies become more demanding as you progress. They take an in-depth look at Basics, how the body moves, stances, fluent movement and how each technique is applied. The candidate will be assessed on every aspect of their session. They must perform all core competencies listed in each level in order to achieve the level of instruction.
An in-depth analysis of the 27 Shotokan Kata including Bunkai - application, development of technique for Kata training such as Dachi no Kata, Shomen Hanme, Hyosh, Tai Sabaki and Hikite in order to develop good fundamentals and power of technique within the Kata.
Higher levels consist of the development of Kumite, three and five step sparring along with Jiyu - Ippon Kumite and Jiyu - Kumite.
